Deepa Rajkamal, an inspiration and passionate support for women's empowerment, is a driving force for social inclusion and community development. With a background in leadership, social work, and activism, she has received acclaim for her tireless efforts to elevate underprivileged populations, particularly women and people with disabilities.
Deepa's outstanding achievements were recognized when she was awarded the prestigious SIWAA Awards 2024 for Outstanding Influencer. This award recognizes her dedication to creating a lasting influence in the lives of others.
Her career took off after she began her academic journey in her late twenties. With perseverance, she achieved amazing success, rising to the position of CEO in her early forties. She formerly served as a National Resource Person (NRP) for the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), where she assisted a variety of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), including those for the elderly, people with disabilities, and tribal tribes. Deepa has also played an important role in programs such as the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and the Tamil Nadu Urban Livelihoods Mission.
As the CEO of the National Resource Organization (NRO), Deepa has empowered NGOs to create inclusive development initiatives, transforming the lives of many. Her academic excellence is evident as she graduated as a university rank holder in MSW, further solidifying her dedication to social work.
Deepa's personal life is equally inspiring. She lives in Chennai with her supportive husband, Mr. Rajkamal, and their two sons, Pranav and Sanjeev. She hails from an agriculture-based family in Bhuvanagiri, where sustainable farming practices such as paddy cultivation, fish ponds, and poultry farming are cherished.
Her passion for writing also shines through. Deepa has published a Tamil poem book titled "Mazhaikku Oru Madal" and continues to contribute to literature. Deepa’s philanthropic initiatives have made a difference in the lives of many, including supporting Bhavani, a vulnerable child, with education and resources to ensure a brighter future.
